The canals around Bangkok are found with 1-2 km distance. From this point (first picture), there is 10 km to the floating market in Talingchan. We have a house in Talingchan, a few hundred meters from the floating market, and I have never visited the market. This market is not much visited by tourists.

If you think the colors here are exaggerated a little, you are right, I have played a little with it in photoshop.
I love this parking place - so does my wife. The left brink is getting a new bullwork right now, electricity has just come to this area. There may be too long a distance to the telephone "POP" to get a good Internet connection.

The shop comes to you in this area. The pilings you can see, are part of the new bullwork. A typical house build on the soft Bangkok clay in this area have a large number of these pilings hammered down to 25 m depth. There is 43 m down to solid rock here. The soft clay is moving all the time, and where there has been cheated with the pilings in the past, a costly experience can come to you.
